Street Muses...BFI 57th London Film Festival...Philomena Premiere...Lauren Laverne

Leicester Square, London.

I was invited to my 1st red carpet premiere today and granted an
exclusive interview with Amex Entertainment Insider, Lauren Laverne.

PG. What do you think of Red Carpet Events?

LL. I quite enjoy them for people watching it's always a bit stressful if you have to go and I'm only ever working but usually it means your chilly. So from my prospective if you've got to be on camera like tonight I'm hosting the red carpet coverage of Philomena starring Dame Judy Dench, Steve Coogan's new film. Your going to be outdoors for quite a few hours so you kind of at the mercy of the elements but your also on camera. So from a getting dressed up prospective...bit stressful from a looking at people prospective hilarious and fantastic.

PG. What trends do you see for A/W13?

LL. A/W13...I think a bit of length is nice, things that are a little bit longer are coming through and obviously carrying on through into S/S14 so people are starting to wear that now...which I've seen quite a lot of. Also there is a lot of red around I'm in red today and kind of pinks actually there is an abundance of spring colours but worn in autumn which seems to be quite a big trend this year. Also polka-dots are quite big for A/W they seem to be having a bit of a moment...which you know is lovely who doesn't like a bit of polka-dot.

PG. Which country do think has the greatest influence in fashion at the moment?

LL. Well I've gotta to say London really...I gotta to say you know Britain at the moment because we've got that great kind of mix and the dissonance between tradition and heritage...and street style and iconoclasts which I suppose was personified by someone like Alexander McQueen. Who had Savile Row training but then had this kind of punk rock heart and I know being in London your in the crucible of all that. The mixture of all those things is really fascinating and will always bring new styles forward so I like that. I Like the raw element of London street style...I known obviously look at me...a Sunderland girl I could never really have that sort of polish. I'm standing here with my gloves covered in jewels I love kind of northern style too but I think it would be exhausting to live in New York and to have a blow-dry every 5 minutes and to have always perfect nails. I couldn't be bothered with that so for me it's all about London.

PG. Who is your favourite designer at the moment?

LL. Well I'm wearing Antipodium tonight...well Geoffrey J. Finch is a complete genius and obviously he has just being taken on as the Creative Director of Topshop which is extremely exciting.
